Founded in 1885, St. Mary-St. Michael School strives to provide the opportunity for each child to receive an excellent education; preparing them for a lifetime of learning centered on Catholic Social Teachings.
St. Mary-St. Michael is a Pre-K through Grade 8 school that features:
- Pre-K (3- & 4-year-olds) program
- Full-day kindergarten
- Small class sizes
- Technology-centered classrooms
- Spanish (K - 8)
- Extended day programs (7:00 AM - 6:00 PM)

Past
St. Mary School was started in the St. Mary church basement by the Sisters of Mercy in 1885. It was housed there until the construction of a new building on the corner of Cottage and Elizabeth Streets, which stood from 1898 until its demolition in 1969. In the 1950s, the current campus of St. Mary School was built on Seymour Avenue.
St. Michael School was staffed by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and dedicated on January 1, 1915. The school merged with St. Mary School in 1988.
Present
Our school provides a strong academic program in a safe, loving, caring environment. Faith is integrated with knowledge.
The school mission is recited daily by the students and requires that our students are fully prepared to become responsible citizens in our changing global society.
Teachers instill in the children habits of prayer, Mass attendance, and acts of charity through monthly service projects.
Future
Our school is proud to be one of only 12 schools in the Archdiocese of Hartford chosen for a pilot program in robotics and engineering.
Through the dedication of the administration, faculty, and staff, working closely with the parents, the children are encouraged to achieve moral and spiritual excellence—goals that will serve them well as they continue on life's journey.
