Tuition Update 2019-2020

Dear Parents,

At a recent School Board meeting of St. Mary-St. Michael School, the School Board discussed

at length the issue of tuition and fees for the 2019-2020 school year. Through the years there

have been moderate increases in tuition. However, the Board decided that an increase of 3% is

in order. This increase equates to an average of $1.06 per day for 180 days the children are in

school.

In making their decision, the School Board took into account the current economic situation and

balanced that concern with the anticipated increases in operating expenses for our Catholic

elementary school. While the School Board recognized that any increase will impact our school

families, such an increase is necessary to maintain the quality of our academic programs and to

ensure the long-term viability of our school. Our tuition continues to be one of the lowest in the

Archdiocese of Hartford and we will work hard to keep tuition low and affordable for our school

families.

We will begin re-registering on tomorrow for the 2019-2020 school year. We will also be

enrolling new students for the coming school year.

If you have any concerns, I encourage you to contact me to discuss this further. It is our desire

to work with every family to the greatest extent possible to make a Catholic education affordable

and attainable. Applications for tuition assistance are due by May 1, 2019 through FACTS.

Thank you for choosing a Catholic elementary school education for your child. God bless you.

Yours truly,

Grace Y. Torres, Principal
